Commercial Laundry Center
For Woods Humane Society
In 2012, the Hind Foundation granted $111,922 to Woods Humane Society to fund the building and equipping of a commercial laundry center. Woods provides high quality care for the thousands of animals who pass the shelter every year. In order to protect the health of each animal and prevent the spread of disease, Woods washes all soft goods every day. This equates to 17 loads of laundry every day or 6,000 loads of laundry a year. The grant will fund the building of a larger laundry facility that is equipped with commercial grade machines which will improve efficiency, but (more importantly) better protect the health of the animals.
Prevention of the Spread of Disease
Woods Humane Society facility can accommodate up to 200 cats and dogs at one time. With so many animals under their care disease can spread quickly, but the new laundry facility and equipment will help to better prevent the potential spread of disease.
Woods Humane Society will save money and conserve resources by updating the facility with commercial grade, more efficient equipment.
