For San Luis Obispo Symphony
In 2012, the Hind Foundation granted $15,000 to the San Luis Obispo Symphony to help fund a recording of "Glosas" a unique piece of music for guitar, violin and orchestra that was commissioned to celebrate the Symphony's 50th Anniversary. Written by world-renowned classical guitarist Jose Maria Gallardo del Rey, the piece features Mr. Gallardo del Rey on guitar and his wife Annabel Garcia del Castillo on Violin. The Glosas recording was coupled with a prior recording of Concerto Romantico written by local San Luis Obispo composer and Cal Poly Music Professor Craig Russell. The grant allowed the two pieces to be released as a single CD on the Naxos Music label and on digital download. It will be the centerpiece of a promotional tour currently scheduled for summer 2014, and will be promoted at Mr. Gallardo Del Rey's concerts throughout Europe and Asia.
• Music for the World
This project enhanced the Symphony's pride as an ensemble and extended their creative and artistic reach far beyond the boundaries of our community, delivering to the world a new piece of art to be enjoyed for generations. The recording is being introduced throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Russia as José María and Anabel perform Glosas with orchestras during various engagements.
• New Revenue Stream
