SLO County Guide Dog Veterinary Care

For Guide Dogs for the Blind

In 2010, the Hind Foundation granted $13,650 to Guide Dogs for the Blind to cover the cost of veterinary care for all Guide Dogs in the San Luis Obispo County area. Guide Dogs for the Blind offers guide dogs and training free-of-charge to blind and visually impaired people throughout the US and Canada; they are funded entirely through private donations such as this.

Noteworthy Outcomes
•    Animal Care

The grant provided veterinary care for guide dogs in training so they can go on to provide invaluable assistance to those in need.

•    Free Services
The Guide Dogs for the Blind services are provided at no cost to assist the blind, 60 – 80% of which are chronically underemployed or unemployed. In order to keep their program operating and to provide their services at no cost, Guide Dogs for the Blind relies 100% on private donations from generous donors like the Hind Foundation.

“The Foundation’s application process is very personable and personal. I am very grateful to Greg for taking the time to walk me through the process.”
~Janet Benjamin, National Major Gifts Officer
Guide Dogs for the Blind

“I personally want to express my sincere appreciation for your donations…and especially for your belief and support for the Guide Dogs mission. How these remarkable dogs change lives and give new hope and freedom for the many visually impaired and blind people, is indeed a miracle in itself.”
