Summer Opera Camp

For Opera San Luis Obispo

In 2010, the Hind Foundation granted $2,500 to Opera San Luis Obispo toward Opera Camp program costs. Opera San Luis Obispo's Summer 2010 Opera Camp provided 15 children ages eight to fifteen with a experience centered on the practices of stage, music and drama, collectively known as 'Opera'. Participants learned about and experienced all aspects of producing the opera The Piper of Hamelin. Participants learned correct vocal and singing technique, ear-training and musicianship, drama and stage movement, part singing and choral techniques, use of props/costumes/make-up. The Opera Camp culminated in a final performance of The Piper of Hamelin, open to the public and free of charge.
